Though almost completely unknown abroad, oina is a sport whose roots still run deep in Romania, particularly in rural areas, where it originated. Unlike its more popular relatives, it brings no fame and no fortune. Still, it is unquestionably an exciting sport, still played by a small core of passionate, enthusiastic people. As such, oina arguably offers one of the world’s purest contemporary examples of authentic sportsmanship spirit.
